The International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code has been developed to create a uniform international code for the transportation of dangerous goods by sea. The IMDG Code became mandatory in January 2004 through the adoption of the Amendments to SOLAS chapter VII (Carriage of Dangerous Goods).
